The Big Bear Country dance Club un-officially started nearly 15
years ago as a small group of enthusiastic dancers that needed
a way to practice the dances they loved as well as just getting'
together with good friends and good music. A local, Steve
Baker, would show up at the "Bit and Spur" Saloon, with his
"Boom Box" and about 10 or so people would have a great time
practicing our favorite dances. A few years later, another couple,
Marilyn and Verne Dorn started teaching dances at the local bar
at the bowling alley. The two groups got together and made one
big family of dancers. The "Big Bear Country Dance Club" was
born.

After nearly six years of getting together at the bowling alley,
Marilyn and Verne retired and moved to Lake Havasu, Arizona
where they still keep the locals dancing. Not wanting to see our
family of dancers be disbanded, Joe Vonesh started taking the
role of organizing and growing our "dance club". Since then we
have grown and moved from 30 to 40 people at the bowling alley
to nearly 200 people at "Wyatts Restaurant" at the Big Bear
Lake Convention Center. Joe Vonesh has also been the DJ for
popular clubs such as "Montana's" in San Dimas, Ca. and the
"Cocky Bull" in Victorville, Ca. as well as many Line Dance
Cruises. More to come...........
